You Don't Know What You Don't Know...
"What are your limiting beliefs?" they ask. "Where are your blindspots?" they wonder. Trouble is, if no-one uncovers them, you don't know - you can't know - what your limiting beliefs are because, until you know they are limiting, they are just beliefs. And as for blindspots, the clue is in the name - spots you are blind to until you are shown them. And that's where self-awareness comes in. Because, without self-awareness, not only are you unaware of your blindspots and limiting beliefs, you will be sucepitble to...
Misaligned Self-Perception
Over or under estimating your capabilities leads to poor strategic decisions and misallocation and misuse of resources
Leadership Blindspots
An inability to recognise toxic behaviours or management flaws, resulting in decreased team performance and high staff turnover
Feedback Resistance
Dismissing or becoming defensive about constructive criticism and feedback, hindering growth, innovation, and adaptation
Low EQ
Letting unchecked emotions drive decision-making, damaging professional relationships and team dynamics
Decision Bias
When you are unaware of cognitive biases it affects judgment and leads to repeated strategic errors
Communication Barriers
Failing to recognise how your communication style impacts others causes misunderstandings and friction
Change Resistance
If you miss the signs that personal or organisational change is necessary, it creates inertia and stagnation
Cultural Insensitivity
Failure to recognise biases and cultural misconceptions limit market reach and damage stakeholder relationships
Performance Gains Across the Board

The Programme Breakdown
Constant change is here to stay. Fighting it is pointless. Equipping your self to deal with it, however, is essential.
Optimal Edge is an coaching program that blends vital research and insights rooted in neuroscience and psychology with a human-centred exploration and reflection process that will empower and educate your team to adapt to changing business landscapes and thrive in adversity. And, while the content is always tailored to you, we follow a tried and trusted process to deliver the results you want.
Step 1: Introductory Call
I don't offer coaching as a 'buy it now' option for one very simple reason: coaching is about change, and change requires connection.
So, the first thing we need to do is establish (a) if I am right for you and your business as your coach, and (b) if Optimal Edge is actually what you need to achieve the outcomes that you want. So, it all begins with a call and a conversation to discover:
- If I am a good fit for you and your business (and vice-versa)
- What you are looking to achieve through coaching and/or training both personally and across your organisation
- Your timescales and delivery requirements
- Whether Optimal Edge will deliver what you are looking for and need
- The level of Optimal Edge that will suit you best (psychometrics and debriefs or a combination of psychometrics, debrief, coaching, and training)
- How you want to move forward
30 - 60Â minutes
You may want a notepad to capture important points
We'll connect either over Zoom video call or WhatsApp voice call
Step 2: Assessment
Central to Optimal Edge are the insights that the psychometric assessments provide. So, once we have agreed the way forward, whatever that may look like, the first step is always to take the assessments and generate the reports that will reveal those all important insights for you.
I understand that flexibility is key for you - your business is a busy operation and your team are constantly spinning many plates. So, this step is geared up to be low impact and fit into busy schedules with the ability to take the assessment at a time and place to suit each person. The process is simple:
- Use the links I'll supply to create your accounts with Mindflick, Openmind, and VIA
- Choose a time to suit you, login to your accounts and take your assessments (each one is separate, so you don't need to take them all at the same time)
- Look out for your email notification that you can book your debriefs, and then choose a time that works for you to get together and go through each of yoor assessment reports
15 - 30 minutes per assessment
You will need a quiet, distraction-free space
Ideally completed on a desktop PC or laptop. Requires good internet connection
Step 3: Debrief
This is the step where the rubber really starts to hit the road and the magic starts to happen. Weââ sit down together for a couple of hours and Iâll âcoachâ you through your assessment report.
Why was âcoachâ in inverted commas? Good question. The debrief isnât run like a typical coaching session (Iâll spend a lot more time explaining things to you than I will asking questions), but it draws on a lot of coaching principles.
So, as well as explaining what the different elements of the report mean Iâll open up plenty of opportunities for you dig deeper into the parts that grab your attention. Hereâs how it worksâŚ
- Start by logging into your Big Life Solutions account (Iâll send you the details ahead of time) and book your debrief appointment.
- Come prepared with an open mind and a real expectation that you are going to make some big discoveries.
- Engage fully in the process to get the most out of it, capturing your insights and identifying aspects to work on.
- Finish by creating a goals and actions list that you can use as a springboard into coaching (if you are following on with that option) or as something to work on by yourself.
120 - 150 minutes per debrief
You will need your debrief workbook and a pen to record any notes you want to make
Requires Zoom and a device suitable for screensharing (e.g. laptop or desktop PC)
Step 4: Coaching
If youâve selected an Optimal Edge package that includes one-to-one coaching, this will be where you take hold of those things that came out of your assessment that youâve identified as key to unlocking all those things that hold the key to the future you want.
Unlike the âcoachedâ debrief, this is coaching without the inverted commas. Youâll set the agenda, youâll drive the direction, and youâll be centre-stage throughout. Weâll co-create your goals, your actions, and your accountability mechanisms, but youâll be the driving force behind it all.
- Booking your sessions is as easy as logging into your Big Life Solutions account and picking a time that works for you.
- Your sessions can be as reflective or as practical as you wish â itâs about what works for you to help you get where you want to get to, so you set the tone.
- You need to arrive at your session in a coachable mindset â ideally pick a slot where you know you can have some time to de-stress and make sure you come feeling calm and relaxed.
- Try to spend some time ahead of the session to figure out what you want to bring to the conversation. That may evolve, or outright change, as the conversation unfolds, but it gives us a great starting point.
- Then, between sessions, commit to following through on the actions that you set during that session.<./li>
60 minutes per session
You will need a private, quiet, and distraction-free space, and maybe a notebook to capture insights and actions
Requires access to Zoom and a good internet connection
Step 5: Team Days
Optimal Edge includes an option to run team days. These provide a fantastic opportunity for you to combine and embed the individual learning that each team member achieves across your whole organisation.
From team maps for Spotlight and VIA and insights into where unconscious bias exists within your team to practical, fun, and interactive team exercises, team days generate a level of understanding, collaboration, and cohesion across your team that elevates performance and effectiveness to whole new levels.
- We sit down ahead of time and review the team-wide information, using it to set an overall direction of travel and agenda.
- Review the principles of each psychometric assessment tool and reveal team-wide mindset and behaviour preferences, character strengths, unconscious biases, and areas of cognitive dissonance.
- Learn how to use team preferences and character strengths to enhance collaboration and decision-making, increase motivation and commitment, and drive up performance across the whole business.
- Identify and address blindspots created by those biases and areas of cognitive dissonance, removing the blockages they create and opening up opportunities for growth.
Full or half-day sessions at a venue of your choosing
Audio-visual equipment, a physical space large enough to accommodate interactive activities, and flipcharts/whiteboards will be neededÂ
Team days are held as in-person events
Step 6: Implementation
The full benefit of Optimal Edge is realised when the insights, awarenesses and actions are applied across on a daily basis both at an individual and organisational level. So, key to maximising your return on investment is implementing those practices that you have identified as core to building the business you want.
And Optimal Edge is set up to support you in that process, with access to a library of resources that will expand your knowledge and understanding of different aspects of wellbeing, resilience, behaviour, mindset, and much more, and equip you to keep building momentum.
You will also have access to the Optimal Edge Community, which provides you with an opportunity to engage with other Optimal Edge alumni, learning from each other and growing together.
So, as you move forward, Keep in mind that you canâŚ
- Make use of the expansive (and ever-growing) library of tools and resources that you and your team have lifetime access to.
- Engage with the Optimal Edge Community to broaden your knowledge, share ideas, and make new connections (think of it as a little like a networking group with real purpose)
- Contact me directly via phone, WhatsApp, or email, if you need ot. Whether itâs to bounce an idea around, clarify particular things from a coaching session or team day, or to bolt on more sessions because you are ready to kick on even harder, I am always available to help.
The time commitment is dependant upon the goals and actions that come out of your debrief and/or coaching sessions
You will have access to a library of resources to help you implement your goals and actions

FAQ
How do I book and access sessions?
Once you are enrolled you'll receive an account on the Big Life Solutions website, which is your private area for all of your Big Life programmes and resources.
Everything is run through your Big Life account - session bookings, sharing session notes and reflections, session resources, and so on. It's essentially your one-stop-shop for everything Big Life.
The only exception is the sessions themselves, which are all accessed through Zoom. So, if you don't already have one, you will need a t
Are the sessions online or offline?
To make it as easy as possible for you to find the time and energy to show up fully present and fully engaged at each of your sessions - whether that's a debrief, or coaching - all sessions are held online.
We do the session over Zoom, and not only is this easy and convenient, it has a number of extra advantages, too.
For example, if you like to have a permanent record of your session to reflect on, you can have it recorded. If you are out of town, or experiencing device issues, you have multiple options to still make your session. And, if you need to shift things around and rearrange your session, the logistics of using Zoom rather than going in-person makes it super-easy to do
How long are the coaching sessions?
OK, there are two parts to this answer.
Each of your coached debrief sessions are around two-hours long, give or take a few minutes either way. This allows us to go into detail, and gives you a chance to really explore the aspects of your assessment report that resonate as well as those that maybe have you scratching your head a little.
If you add coaching to your programme, those sessions last for an hour each. That said, I make myself available via WhatsApp if you need to check in for any reason between sessions
What happens if I can't make a session?
Ideally, you need to be 100% committed to your coaching and attending your sessions needs to be your number one priority, if you are to get maximum value from them.
But, I totally understand that life can throw curveballs that derail even the best laid plans, and schedules have to change. So, if you can't make a session, rearranging it is fine.
However, there is a caveat to that: other than in exceptional circumstances, I need you to give me 24 hours notice that you want to reschedule. As long as you do that, you keep your session and can book it for another day.
If you simply don't show up to your session without letting me know you can't make it, however, that session will be classed as having been held and you will forfeit it. In other words, you miss out on that session.
What are the personality profiling tools you use?
I use two tools in this programme: Spotlight and OpenMind.
Spotlight deals with mindset and behaviour preferences and is focused on developing adaptability and resilience.
OpenMind looks at intrinsic (subconscious) and extrinsic (conscious) thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs. It highlights discrepancies and alignment between how you really feel and how you present yourself to the world. Understanding where there is discrepancy and where there is alignment helps you to develop strategies to live with authenticity, which is key to wellbeing and, in particular, effective leadership.
Both tools involve an online assessment which takes around 20 minutes at most, and both produce a detailed report based on your responses. It is those reports that form the basis of your coached debriefs and, generally, inform the direction you want your coaching to take.
There's more information in the programme brochure, which you can read online or download for later by clicking on it higher up this page.
Are there any resources with this programme?
Absolutely! There are a variety of resources available.
First, you get your Assessment Report for the assessments you took. And, for your debrief, you get a detailed workbook.
After your debrief, you get a recording of the session, detailed session notes, and a set of guides to help you understand more about each of the elements in the reports. You will also get any tools that we agree are relevant as we move through each debrief process.
If you have added coaching to your programme, you'll get tools that align with your coaching goals to help you gain and maintain momentum.Â
You will also have access to both the Big Life and MindMastery communities, hosted on biglifesolutions.com, where you can connect with other people taking coaching and training programmes, so that you can expand your network, your knowledge, and your horizons even further.
